Non flute topic, Excited!

Post by fluteguy18 »

So, I've been making not so subtle hints about purchasing a small sparkly circle. Well, I'm pleased to announce that I asked her a question, and she said 'yes.'

I'm engaged! :D

She's everything I've always wanted: smart, classy, pretty, sweet, kind, sassy, morally upstanding, a killer smile, and to top it all off, she's a pianist!

I'm very happy. <3

Let me be the first to offer congratulations!!!!!! You deserve to be happy! Best wishes to you and your fiance!

BTW - Flute guy and piano gal is a great combination. I speak from experience here. My wife is a pianist/organist. We met in music history class and became engaged my senior year. We married a year and a half later. That was 36 years ago.

Congrats FG18, I am so happy for you.
May you two have many wonderful years together.

Now if this was a jewerlry board, a picture of the e-ring would be necessary (I post on jewelry boards too as I am also a GIA Gemologist).

Well, I won't post a picture, but I'll tell you about it. It is a quarter carat round diamond solitaire. It is an heirloom stone that my mother passed down. We've lost the paperwork that says the quality specifics, but as far as what they remember it was a very high quality diamond (colorless or almost... cost hundreds and hundreds and hundreds in the 1970s. They made payments on it for a looooong time). It is set in a 6 prong traditional setting in 14k white gold.

Heck. Here's a picture. We had it cleaned and resized (hence the new box). I apologize for the poor lighting. I took this with my iPhone. It's blinding in sunlight.

So it's not necessarily a large 'rock' but she's more of the traditional and sentimental type. Furthermore she sent me a picture of her 'perfect' engagement ring and it was identical to this one. She made it very clear that she did not want a large stone but instead preferred a simple, elegant, and 'pretty' design.

Awesome!! Congratulations, FG18! I wonder how you'll be able to play harp/flute AND be the groom...that should be interesting ;)

FG,

That is a beautiful e-ring. Being passed down from your mom should be even more special to your fiancee.

Please tell her to keep it clean by using a soft toothbrush and liquid soap (dishwashing liquid, bath gel, even shampoo without conditioner) to brush and clean the pavillion (that's the underside) of the diamond. The light reflects off those facets so if you keep it clean then your diamond will be brilliant and sparkle a lot. Don't waste money on jewelry cleaner, they are just liquid soap with or without ammonia.

Congrats again !!!! This is so exciting.
