Re: hi from Turkey.
Thanks and welcome! Very cool! I used Google Translate to look around your forum a bit and I see that folks in Turkey discuss a lot of the same topics as here. Instruments, teachers, music, etc. Music is truly a universal language. We'd love to hear about flutes in Turkey. Please tell us a bit more!

Re: hi from Turkey.
Another hi from Turkey.
I am the founder and co-admin of flutcu.net flute forum of Turkey. We've been online since 2007, and we have about 16000 members of large scale of interest from very beginners to professional flute performers.
Most important mission of flutcu.net is to provide correct and precise information about flute and universal music to people who want to play an instrument and who usually do not have any idea where and how to start, and even are afraid of musical notation.
We provide a kind of "distant learning" facility to people who cannot afford a private flute teacher or flute course, or who does not have time for regular flute education. Our flute teachers give instructions, listen and evalute recorded performances, and guide people. All this work is completely free of charge because we regard our effort completely as a matter of social responsibility.
I think this introduction is enough. Nice day to everyone.

Re: hi from Turkey.
Music is absolutely universal.
I am "orchestra director" of this Turkish site, that's what they call me.
An engineer and became flutist in age of early 30's with the help of this site.
Nice to see people almost on the other side of the world.
Altough we are all in Turkey, we are quite apart and can't come together physically.
Recently we have enjoyed playing together "offline", that is, everybody recorded his part at home and I have arranged them all on computer.
You can listen to it here
http://soundcloud.com/mustafasa/when-th ... marching-2
Another one we are going to record is "the lonely shepherd"
This is my flute playing and backing music is prepared by a teacher of the site.

Piano parts will be flute parts here, but we are a little bit lazy on this just enjoying
This is what we call Project K
K is Kelebek which means butterfly and symbolizes will, freedom, joy and regeneration with music
we may also do it together with you guys.
Have fun

Re: hi from Turkey.
By the way,
Starting point was to make one video with 3-4 people all on the same screen at the same time with videos recorded in different places by dividing screen to 4.
Hope we will make it

Hello from almost-the-complete-opposite-side-of-the-world! So neat that we can talk to musicians everywhere now through the internet.
What types of flute do you play there? The Lonely Shepherd Boy sounded very woody -- beautiful and haunting. Thanks for sharing.

Woody?
Nope, thats a Yamaha YFL-311
I wrote the piano scores to FL Studio, closed my eyes, listened to it by an earphone, played the flute and recorded with a mic again to FL Studio with reverb efect to a different channel and combined them. It may be sounding woody because of the effects.
this is what I was listening on the earphone

a lovely song.
