HEY EVERYONE! It's been like a century since I have posted, it seems. How is everyone?
I was wondering...who here is going to the NFA convention in Las Vegas!? Less than a month! I'll be there This is my second NFA convention - I went to the one in Charlotte last year. I'm so excited yet again!
And how is everyone doing? It seems like yesterday that I was a sophomore in high school joining this board and here I am, about to go into my last year of undergrad and getting ready to audition for grad schools!
I got accepted to the Marrowstone Music Festival this summer so I am flying to Seattle on Sunday to go study there and play in orchestra and chamber ensembles for two weeks. I'll be studying with Jill Felber!
Hubby and I are going too, can't wait to finally meet some of you. This is my very first convention. I looked through the program
and am finding that there are so many venues I want to attend that I have to make a choice for things that are happening simultaneously.
Planning to bring two almost empty laptop bags (camera in one, netbook in the other (hubby likes to download pictures) ) so I can buy music.
That is something I really miss as there used to by a Byron Hoyt Sheet Music in San Francisco where I could browse for hours and then buy.
Now I have to ask people like FG18 at CN to describe the printing of the various editions to me. I'm picky about page turns and the quality of the printing if given a choice.
I'm looking at the schedule and it looks like there is some free time between 6 pm - 8 pm on Thursday evening. Also looked at the dining options (most of it rather expensive). But is anyone interested in meeting at the Cypress Street Marketplace (pizza, burgers, wraps, soups, salad etc. averaging $15 pp) at 6 pm for dinner?
It looks like cafeteria style with each person paying for their own meals.
The Gala Concert starts at 8 pm. I'm open to earlier if need be too.
That sounds good. My wife and I would love to get together for dinner. It will be great to meet you you and your "hubby". I hope that Joe B and FG18 can join us too.

I'm hoping they can join us too as they have both contributed so much to this and another flute board that I visit, plus FG18 is a FB friend of mine. PP, of course you contribute a lot too.
I haven't found a listing but I believe http://www.agnewmcallisterduo.com/ are performing at the festival.
My favorite duo! Mathew's playing is flawless and sensitive, Aisling is an outstanding modern player but her tone and facility on a wood transverse flute is extraordinary
I won't be out of the exhibits until probably 6:30 or 7. We have to put away all of the flutes and restock all of the sheet music and it takes us an hour to an hour and a half. Otherwise that seems fine.
FG18, we can start and just hold a spot for you (and anyone else who wants to join)?
Sorry but my blood sugar drops and 7 pm is just too late for me (we normally eat between 5 - 6 pm at home).
Is that ok?
Yes, we are taking a 24ft truck to Vegas this year. We're loading the truck CRAZY early on Sunday (before sunrise to avoid the heat) and then leaving ridiculously early on Monday. I will get back on further details about dinner, but I think Thursday is the only night that I'm free (Altus and Miyazawa are doing dinner for the company on Wednesday and Friday I think...). I'll find out specifics about everything tomorrow and I'll get back to everyone. The exhibits close at 5:30 so I'm going to see if I can get out at 6:30 for dinner with you guys if Thursday is indeed the night I can get away.
If Thursday is NOT an option for me, could any of us get together another night?
