The 20th Annual Hampton Roads Flute Faire is February 9, 2013 8:30-5:30 at Old Dominion
University in Norfolk, VA. In honor of our 20th anniversary we are celebrating our past,
present and future. Our featured artists and clinicians are the flutists of the Virginia
Symphony, Debra Wendells Cross, Joanne Meyer White and Rachel Ordaz. Returning
to lead our celebration is Laurie Baefsky, former VSO member and Founder of the
Hampton Roads Flute Faire. For the first time ever we will hold a mock orchestral
audition featuring three of our past competition winners, Sarah Carter, Melanie Libby
and Marla Smith. Our all-day event also includes a flute choir reading session,
competition winners master classes, raffle, open lessons, performance anxiety
discussion, advisory board recital, flute choirs in concert, and a recital featuring the
Virginia Symphony flute section. Competitions for Elementary, Middle and High School
is on Feb 4 and the competition for College and Adult Amateur is Feb 9. Prizes awarded
in each category. Deadline for competition entry is Jan 28. Vendors to include JL Smith

I'm looking forward to attending this for the first time.
I'm hoping to meet other adult amateurs like myself who might be interested in meeting regularly to work on ensemble pieces and possibly find out some flute instructors in the area as well.
