I am back with a new member name hoping that will
give me a fresh start after taking a break from the board for a bit. To make the
post more on topic...I think I am going to keep my daughters old flute and learn
to play with the open holes. It just seems that there isn''t a real good
market for used Gemmy''s out there and it it worth more to me than anyone
would be willing to pay for it. It will make a decent back up flute for her too

posts [:)] I think it's a great idea to use your daughter's Gemeinhardt...
then you can work on an open hole flute which could help your form, and I would
think it's made of better materials than the student flute you were using, so
you might get better sound. If nothing else, it's new to you [;)]

Hi! Anyway that's a very smart idea (learning on
your daughter's open hole) I'm not exacting planning no buying an open hole
until high school. There expensive and I want to save up for it.

Haha, I like your avatar, Kim[:)]. Hopefully this
board will start moving a little faster again...it's been rather slow as of
lately. It's funny how many people I know with open-hole flutes that are too
lazy to learn to play with the plugs out...I learned to play with them out like
6 years ago and won't play any other way.[:p]
