Good Morning, My daughter has asked to play flute for band next year.
She will be in 7th grade. Knowing how much instruments are, my MIL found one at
a garage sale for $20. She has it looked at and found it in great shape, all it
needs is cleaning. So she will be getting i this weekend and we will have it
cleaned by the time school starts back up in the fall. No as far as being new to
the flute, is there anything we could be having her do to get her started so
that the beginning of school she knows her instrument and feels comfortable wiht
it. I play cello and have tinkered with the tin whistle so I am not new to this
kind of world. I hope you can help me get my daughter started on the right
track. Tahnk you, LadyNikki

Your daughter can blow into the headjoint and make a sound,
right? In case you don't know what the headjoint is, it is the part with a lip
riser (part where you blow into). If she can do this, she's on the right track!
When I started flute and piccolo, that's what they had me do before I did
anything else. Good luck to you and your daughter. She's going to love the
flute. Tell her she made the right choice.[:)] [;)] [] [:sun:]

Thank you SaraBeth. I know shes pretty excited about
playing. We live pretty far from any major city and I am haiving problems
looking for a tutor for her. Being a cello player and know how that benefited me
I believe she should have a tutor that really kows that instrument instead of
her band teacher how does do tutoring for all instrumnets. Take care and thank
you again. LadyNikki[8)]
