Buffet-Crampon model

Hi,
The flute bug has bitten (I started just 2 months ago on an 8-key simple system, then quickly bought a keyless "Irish" flute too).

Today I picked up a dirt cheap ($50aud) Buffet-Crampon 'Cooper Scale' 225. Plays from low C to 3rd octave D (I fade off from there) so I'm very happy. Cosmetically it is very clean.

I realise the 225 is a now defunct student model, but I'm a bit confused about the information on the Internet about this model. Specifically the Buffett-Crampon Wikipedia page says that the 225 has inline G key and the 227 offset G key. My 225 and others I see listed for sale with photos show what I believe is an offset G.

I'm obviously confused about what constitutes an inline or an offset G and what the specific differences between the 225 and 228 models were/are.
Any wisdom imparted will be appreciated greatly.

If it plays, why worry about what model it is?

Besides, it could simply be a 227 with a 225 Headjoint.

I was just curious about the model distinction and whether or not I understood the inline/offset g.

I've had Buffet Crampon 228 for close to 20 years. Never had to have it fixed or adjusted (maybe it would benefit from a service now, but there is nothing obviously wrong with it). I've even bounced it down some stone steps with no ill effects (not recommended). I've never seen a 225 but the photos you provide look like an offset G to me. If the head joints have been switched I'd bet they are the same anyway.

It's a great student flute and I think you 've got an absolute bargain. So... enjoy!

I'm really enjoying my flute foray so far. Going from wood simple system to silverplate Boehm has been easier than I thought. I started playing alto sax almost 5 years ago which helps, I guess (the clarinet side-step didn't help much).
I'm amazed at the strength of tone I get from this flute. The 8-key wood is much more 'diffused' and at least half as much volume/projection. It has very small toneholes however. Delicate tone.

So my 225 is offset G, or at least the body with the 225 headjoint is offset.

Strange thing is my half a dozen Googles on Buffet-Crampon 225 photos show none that are inline at all. Not one. My feeling is that Wikipedia (in all its infinite wisdom ) is the only 'reliable' source for the 225 inline G information?

Anyway, I'm really happy with this flute!
