Traveling with a flute?

I will be traveling this summer for several months, probably in several climates (heat, humidity, dryness, cold, rain)
I will be camping most of the time.
Is it realistic to bring my flute with me, or is it bound to get ruined somehow and I'm better off leaving it at home?
I really don't want to stop practicing for such a long duration.

Just keep it swabbed and in the case when you are not playing and it should be fine. I travel with my flute a lot. Even inside checked in baggage on airplanes sometimes. No problems.

I have 3 flutes ... 2 I wouldn't take on your trip (one has a wooden headjoint, and the other is silver and I'd never forgive myself if it got damaged), but I would take the 3rd which is my old student flute, which I couldn't bring myself to get rid of.

Well it has a silver mouthpiece, and it cost me what would be around 800$.
It is pretty valuable to me since I had to save quite a bit of time to get it..
I have no experience with this.
How sensitive is the flute to things like humidity, moisture, and sun\heat? of course when I don't play it will be in its case.
How do you avoid it being stolen?

Only you can make that choice ... When I go away, it's been to stay with relatives so I wasn't too concerned about theft (and when travelling the flute was with me)

No issues with moisture / humidity, will keep your embouchure muscles exercised but if it gets lost/stolen/damaged it's not the end of the world?
