Buy a new flute?

Post by roland »

Hi
I want to change my old nickel yamaha and i'm thinking of a miyazawa (PA202). I've heard here or there that it's a good choice, then i've been to a store to try and compare miyazawa, sankyo, altus, yamaha (about the same range of quality/price --a bit more expensive for miyazawa i must say). Actually i got the nicest and purest (and kind of "large") sound with the PA202. Now i'm wondering this: is there a big difference between PA202 and PA302? Could someone who tried those 2 models tell me about this? (no way for me to try both of them)

thanks a lot for your help if you can

The main difference between these two flutes is the metal that it is made from. In my opinion, if you like your sound on the 202, go with it. It really seems to be a great flute for the money. The 302 is going to cost quite a bit more. Depending on where you are with your playing, I am not sure that it is worth the price difference.

Go to http://www.miyazawa.com/flutes.htm to get more info on the models.

I did try the 302 and the 202, with little noticeable difference. Honestly, I did not care for my sound on any of the Miyazawa line, but buying a flute is such a personal thing that you should go with how YOU sound and how well you like the instrument overall.

I know it's just up to ME and only me to make the right choice. But i wanted to know if someone made a big difference between 202 & 302. Seems that not. I'll stick to 202 (unless someone tell me : you should *really* try 302 before you buy...)

thanks for all!
