So I've been playing the flute for a couple of years. I work my butt off trying to get to be a flute 1 but every year someone else is in the first chair. So then our band teacher had a conference for the members of our band. The thing is he only chose the people who played the first part. I admit I have some pitchy high notes, but that does not mean that I can't be a good enough flu7te player to be in this group.

Stop over thinking and stop being full of yourself. So you are not the first chair. Big deal. Just keep working hard and make sure you make the most out of the position you are in. After all, no matter how good you are, someone has to play the part you are playing now. Why not you?

Thanks!!! I took your advice and now I'm having a blast with my friends that aren't first chair!!
