bad wrists; don't know whether i can use a flute with holes; play decently
need a new flute

You can buy a better closed hole flute or if you prefer the open holes, get a set of plugs to close the holes. Try removing one and continue playing for a few weeks to adjust to that one open hole. Later, remove another and repeat. If you find one hole that give you problems just keep it plugged. There are some professionals that play with one or more holes plugged.
