I've been recently thinking about where my picc has come from. I know that it is old and has played at quite a few different places over its years, but I still don't know WHO had it before me. Its been a good month and a half of searching and I've come up w/ little. Can anyone help me find out ANY info about it? Please?
Type: Haynes (older model)
Code: 5699
Bought frm: Bobby (uh, I've got her work card around here some place. I'll add in her name and stuff when I find it)
Can anyone help?

I would suggest contacting the Haynes company. They may at least be able to give you the name of the original owner and when it was made, but it is doubtful that they have much more than that. Unfortunately, the company has changed hands and they may not be as helpful as they used to be
The web address is www.wmshaynes.com You should be able to get a phone number there.
Other than that, there is no real record kept of flute/picc owners. Even with serial numbers, it is very hard to trace them unless the owners have kept some records themselves.
Good luck!

Actually, Hayns keeps (or at least used to keep) fairly good records on their instruments. They obviously would not know every owner, but they should have record of the original owner. They are very strict about who sells their instruments, and in the early years, you could only buy directly from the company. Companies like Selmer, who has changed hands several times over the years and no longer makes handmade flutes, don't keep records like this. Some companies have no real system for serial numbers either, making it impossible to track down when it was made. Haynes does have a system for this. You can find a flute serial number list for Haynes on:

I don't know if it is the same for piccolos (which I doubt).
There are other brands listed as well. I had actually forgotten about this list until this morning, but I have used it several times to identify when a flute was made.
Incidently, I contacted Gemeinhardt about a similar situation, and come to find out they have a system, but it changes frequently with every new line. They do not publish the info anywhere either, but they were happy to help. Some companies are very willing to share info like this, some are not.
