Times Of Using Vibrato
There are some issues preventing me from using vibrato. Although im definitely learnt it, but sometimes i use it might produce a bad flow vibrato. Im trying to prevent using vibrato instead of using clear pure colour tone. But when im playing solo, i really cant stay out from using vibrato. Any tips of using vibrato? And can someone advice me how to get a good flow with normal with vibrato?
Vibrato is tricky and sometimes controversial (ways to teach it, anyway).
Have you been working with a teacher? To keep a good flow, without listening to your playing, I would only recommend kind of general tips, like start with slow, large vibrations at a slow tempo (use your metronome to monitor steadiness), and only get faster as the evenness improves. Also, keep a strong, steady, supported airstream going, to fuel a good tone. Try to make your vibrato a part of your tone, rather than an ornament to the tone. Work at being able to vary the amplitude (large or small vibrations) and the speed of your vibrato to suit your music.
There's a Trevor Wye practice book about vibrato with lots of information.

You might keep an eye on HOW you do your vibrato. If you're just opening and contracting the back of your throat, or if you're just pushing air in spurts, that might be causing your problem. Try combining both to get a really good vibrato sound.

It varies, really... It kinda depends on the person, but I would suggest just pushing air in long wah-wah sounds (kinda think of hills and valleys in the amount of air) and slowly speeding them up. Contract the back of your throat slightly with each push. Try to practice keeping the sound smooth and your tone even, 'cause you'll wind up with a really airy vibrato AND tone if you aren't careful...
By the was, I LOVE your picture. BSB ROCKS!!!! (It's sad really, I listened to all my CD's even when they went out of style... Even sadder, I still listen to Spice Girls...)
