hey.. lately I feel pain in the right part of the chest..
could it have any connection to playing the flute? I used to smoke alot and I
stopped almost completey an year ago (a few months before I started the flute)
and sometimes it comes back if I smoke a little and sometimes sugar would cause
it too. I''m 20 years. did anyone have any experience? could the flute make
the area more sensitive because of the breathing and everything? Thanks

I think this may be a question better answered by a doctor.
There are many possiblities of what is happening to you. I would suggest, first
you go to a GP and tell them how you feel. Sometimes the body has its own way of
letting you know that you are changing to something it is not used to. This may
linger for a long while or disappear quickly. Or, You may take up an excersize
that involves breath control such as swimming or running. Another thing is to
start your practice with a short breathing excersize, such as putting your hands
on your sides and taking long slow breaths, concentrating on expanding your
diaphragm. Make sure to fill up all the way and exhale all the way as is
possible. Slowly though. See if the pain shows up before you start playing. You
may just be experiencing the old side ache. Sugar huh, Have you had your blood
sugar tested??

I agree with Cleartone this is something your doctor should
hear about. No one can or should diagnose something like this over the internet.
It could be nothing or have a simple cause or something more serious, so your
doctor is the one to address this. I take it from your discussion of it "coming
on when you smoke a little" that you have not really quite smoking. That
certainly may play into this symptom. For your own peace of mind discuss this
with your doctor. The odds are it has a very simple cause.
