Notes above high C

Post by necrannae »

ERRR!!!! I got a step-up flute for Christmas because I
knew all the notes on a C-foot flute, and I cannot find an easy way to play a
high Eb!!! I''ts seriously driving me nuts. I have found a few sites that have
different ways to play it, but they all sound like high Bb''s when I play
them. I got piccolo music from my teacher, and I have a solo with the high Eb
note in it. If you know an easy fingering for that note, PLEASE tell me!!!

Notes above high C

If it is Eb3 (in the third register), then it is the
regular fingering that you can see on the fingering chart at fluteland.com. Just
make sure you do not "overblow" the note. If it is D4 (fourth register) then
there is no really "easy" fingering. Left thumb and index finger and right C#
trill key, middle finger and pinky over the C and C# keys (not the Eb key). You
have to provide a lot of air support for this note. If you have to play a
passage in this range that was originally designed for the piccolo, it might be
a bit difficult. Maybe you can ask your teacher whether you should bring it down
an octave. Best of luck.
