Welcome to the board. Isn't it wonderful that you can enjoy and perform music at all ages. I too played in junior and senior high school and was very serious about it since I also had a scholarship to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I still have a recital program where I performed the Dutilleux Sonatine and Julie McKenzie performed the 1st Mvt from Mozart Concerto #1. She is now Principal Flute of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. (I am a VP at a Fortune 50 company).
I dropped out of music (and got a Business Information Systems Degree) when my mother told me to "get a real job". Didn't play for 15 years until my now ex-husband started teaching at the local community college. So I started up again in 1989, auditioned, then played 2nd flute in their orchestra. In 1992 I became Principal Flute and have held that position ever since. This college based community orchestra is made up of college kids, professionals, and "old folks" like myself who various hold day jobs and but play for enjoyment. Principal clarinet is a PhD in Math and a research scientist at Lawrence Livermore Labs, Principal bassoon is a UNIX Systems Administrator for the State of California. We even had a Catholic nun play with us for several years. Of course the principal strings are all professionals who also teach privately in their "studios".

Speaking of Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp, I will be performing this in our May 2007 concert. In fact the harpist (high school senior) is coming over (along with our orchestra conductor) for our first run through next Saturday. Since her parents are also members of the orchestra (bassoons) we plan to play the Mozart, copy and listen to the DVD/CD of our last concert, maybe play some Handel since I have Urtext version of his Sonatas for Flute and Continuo, and most importantly PARTY
