Hi! I just found your forum, and it is so great to see so many who play the flute! What a beautiful and wonderful instrument! I am 62 and a
returning flute player. I first learned awhile back and had about two years of lessons. Things happen, and the flute sat. I then got a digital piano
and took some lessons, but ah, the flute. I had to go back to it! I now took a few lessons and bought my flute, a Yamaha YFL-321. It is closed hole
with a sterling silver headjoint. Nothing fancy on it - simple, and I love it. Plays very well! The flute was the highest I could go budget wise, and at 62 this
will serve me well. I want to play just for my own pleasure! Lessons are a bit pricey, so I got some books, and am using the internet. I feel myself
improving tone wise which I am pleased with. It's like singing and keeping that airway relaxed and open. Anyway, good to be here and it looks like I've
seen lots of good advice. And lots of older beginners as well!

Welcome to the board. Music is something that one can have a lifelong love of.
I myself returned to the instrument after a 15-year absence. I'm pretty close in age to you.
You will find that many on this board are eager to help.

p.s. the Principal oboe in our orchestra is 80 years young.
