Interlochen Summer Music Program
I was just wondering if any high schoolers had auditioned for the summer wind ensemble and orchestra program at Interlochen, or if anyone else had any experience with this. I'm starting my search for a summer program for this year, and this one seems pretty solid. Any info. on exactly how selective it is/ scholarship would be awesome!

Well, I never went, and I have only heard things about Interlochen. From what I hear it is very difficult, if not almost impossible to get in. However, I myself have never looked it up. This is just what I have heard. Although, I have heard that the programs there are amazing. But, dont take my word as fact, this is just what I have heard.

Jeff Zook -- now piccolist for the Detroit Symphony and a really great flutist in his own right -- was my roommate at a masterclass many years ago when both of us were teenagers. He was a student at the year-round Interlochen Academy at the time, studying with Jackie Hofto, I think (who, I believe, is somewhere in TX now; perhaps Rice University, but I'm unsure about that).
Anyway, from my many discussions with him back then, he had nothing but great things to say about both the school (where you go all year) and also the summer program. It was -- and still is from what I hear -- extremely difficult to get in to Interlochen whether it be the school or the summer program, but well worth it if you can make the cut. I have never heard a single negative thing about it, plus it happens to be located in (from what I hear) a very beautiful place in northern Michigan.
So, I say go for it! But you'll need to practice really, really hard. We'll all pull for you, though .

I auditioned for the Rep Theater Program...I didn't get in. I think I'm going to try again next year but for the Advanced Vocal Program. I'm not good enough to go for Flute.
