Flute Conventions in California?

Post by sakuramimato »

I was wondering if anyone would have info on upcoming flute conventions that will be held near the Southern California region.

I'm planning on buying a new flute since I'm heading to college this fall (hopefully!) and wanted an upgrade to professional since my current flute is really limiting my playing. I was hoping to play test a couple of flutes to see which ones I'd like.

Suggestions on professional model flutes are very welcome. :]
I'm looking at a $2000-$3000 price range.

i don't know of any conventions in the area but i do know of two flute shops in the los angeles area:

http://www.oguraflute.com - i believe my flute instructor got her muramatsu from here.

http://flutacious.com

both places are very well known by my music professors at my college and will take good care of you if you choose to buy a flute from them. i hope this helps!

Unfortunately, if you are waiting for the National Flute Association Annual Convention (NFA), the next one in southern Cali will not be until 2010, in Anaheim. You can see where all the upcoming NFA conventions are going to be here:

They are always held in August. This year it will be in Albuquerque.
