I LOVE that piece. I played it when I was a high school freshman, and have loved it ever since. I took it to a solo and ensemble competition, and recieved a distinguished rating, so I was particularly pleased with that.Too bad that I lost my copy of the music, so I can only play it in my memory [I could buy it though.....].
In my sophomore year in high school, I was in an honors humanities class, and we had to have a specific area of emphasis, and of course mine was music. For that grade, we had to play a piece [ I chose to play this piece again], compose a piece, write a paper about the time period the piece I chose was written in, and write a paper about the composer. However, I was unfortunate to realize that I had picked a piece that had a virtually unknown author [ or so it seemed through my research]. All I could find about Monsieur Donjon, was that he was a Romantic era composer [ or I think he was..... but cant exactly remember.... I havent studied a lot of music history yet] and that he played in the Paris Symphony in the 1830's [ or somewhere around there.... remember, I wrote this a long time ago].
Otherwise, I could only find his years of birth and death.
But, yes, I know that piece, and I really like it.
