How do I know that my PVC flute is 432Hz or Not

Post by freesix »

Hi, just wanna know how to find out whether my PVC flute is tuned to 432Hz or not.

as I have a PVC flute made by a craftman bought ifrom Africa and just wanna find out on how to check if it's a 432Hz?

Do I need a software or something like a device to do so?

Thanks in advance !

You can use a tuner to check the tuning. There are several free cell phone apps that can do this. One that I use is Tuner Lite for iPhone. All you need to do is set the calibration frequency to 432 Hz and play your fundamental or tonic note and see what it reads. If it's reading quite a bit flat set the calibration to 440 Hz and see if that is what it is. Of course, blowing pressure has an effect on this so it's best to look for an average reading. I hope this helps.
