hey I do have internal rhythm
So normally I'm aweful at keeping any kind of beat but I was practicing for my college audition and found out that I do infact have some rhythm in my head. This is one of the first pieces that I've played standing in ages and so I'm practicing that way. I totally blanked out and stopped thinking and found myself swaying back and forth with the beat and the music just coming out right. I'm so happy I found something that works.

Personally, I don't know if swaying is a good way to keep rhythm. But, some ways to improve rhythm is to practice counting and clapping...say the different rhythms...if no one has taught you this, PM me and I will explain further. Also, make the metronome your friend. I know it sucks, they are always right and you are wrong. Accept it and life will be better. Metronomes are crucial to playing well. We have to be in time before we can do our own thing. Hope this helps. I am a rhythm beast with my students! It is soooo important!

There shouldn't be anything wrong with swaying so long as you don't take it to an extreme. If, for instance, in the course of moving, the flute moves in relation to your embouchure, it could have a negative impact on your playing, but you'll find that most players move at least a little when they play. Congrats on finding a way to keep time while you play!
