Jethro Tull
Just wondering if anyone knew what brand of flute Jethro plays. Must be made of iron for the beating it takes.

The flutist in Jethro Tull is actually named Ian Anderson, and he has several flutes (as do most professionals). From what I've read on his website, he currently has a student model Yamaha for practicing, Sankyo Silversonics and a Powell 2100's and 3100's. Apparently he finds that the Sankyo plays more easily and loudly (especially when he's tired), but the Powell's scale and sound is better. The Sankyo has an NSR-1 head, and the Powells Q or P cut heads. If you're interested to learn more, here's a description of the various instruments he's played over the years:

Re: Jethro Tull
Has anyone heard or read of Ian Anderson playing a Palmer Flute. Mine sounds so much like his when I play it.

Re: Jethro Tull
Ian Anderson was my initial inspiration to play flute. I first heard him when I was in high school. That puts me at 60 as we speak. Rampal was who inspired me to study classically, and Jeremy Steig inspired me to Jazz.
