Why won't my high B natural come out?!!

Post by KSUFlautist06 »

Hi guys! I have a Roy Seaman piccolo and it plays great...but I cannot get that pesky high B natural to come out. I tried pretty much everything..slur up to it..fast, slow....blow my brains out!
Any advice?? Do you think there is a problem with the piccolo?

Thanks!

Some piccolos really don't have a high B for whatever reason. You can try moving the headjoint cork in a little bit towards the embouchure hole--this will certainly help if it's currently out too far. If you don't like the change, you can always move it back. Do measure it against your swab stick first of course..

Yeah, some piccs just won't play that note. I suggest looking around online trying to find alternate picc fingerings for it, and giving them all a try.
