How often does band class meet ?

Band class schedules are going to be changing in
our school district next year. They will be moving them to a every other day
schedule. I am curious to how often other Jr. High/High School band classes
meet. Do you have class everyday or every other day ? Kim

Our band changed this year to every
other day, it's horrible! BAD THINGS ABOUT BAND -our band stinks (we practice
every other day) -everyone is allowed in -we have 1 band -our drums and other
school-owned isntruments dont work (example there is an all-county band from
1974 sticker on one of our bass clarinets) -we dont have chair numbers -we dont
have assigned seats -WE'RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! hehe that's why I can't wait till
high school only 1/4 a year left

At my school their are 2 6th grade
bands, two combined 7th grade bands and two combined 8th grade bands (this is
because we have so many students in band) For one trimester, one of the 6th
grade bands has band every day while the other band has it twice a week. On the
third trimester it is switched (for the 2nd trimester, both bands have practice
twice a week) Both 7th grade and 8th grade bands have practice everyday
throughout the whole year. I'm not sure about high school but I'm 99.9% all of
the three HS bands have practice everyday. I like having band everyday, we get
more done and I like playing my instrument for band everyday.

We have 4 different level bands at my
high school and each band meets four times a week. Mon, Tues and Fri each band
meets for appx. 50 minutes and 2 bands meet on Wed and the other 2 meet on Thurs
for about 110 minutes. [:)]

I'm in the 8th grade, and we have
band everyday. [:bigsmile:] I have it 2nd period. I wish I could have it as one
of my latter classes, so I could have something to look forward to during the
day!

Thanks to everybody that answered.
Music in our school district is always under attack when they start to cut the
budget...and it usually ends up being the band department that takes the cuts. I
think this is going to have a huge affect on the High School band that we have
here in just a few years. It seems strange that many years ago I started playing
the flute in 4th grade and you don't hear of too many schools that do that any
more because they can't afford to pay the teachers. Kim

My school is going through budget
problems too...we'll probably lose our band director this next year...which
will be the worst thing ever because we will have to have the chorus teacher.
Ahhhh! [:0] Not good. As it is we only have 25 in our band. But we meet 4 times
a week, plus jazz band Monday nights from 6:30-9 (I play alto sax toooooo)...so
probably a total of 7 hours of band a weeek. [;)]
