hi!! ive been playing flute for 2
years but i recently decided that i want to go to music college and major in
flute. but the problem is that i dont hav much of a musical background and
knowledge of music theory...although i am learning now in my recently started
piano class. The college said that they do take in people with limited musical
background like me as in the first term, they would teach grade 1-5 stuff, in
about 5 months. i have about a year and a half to buck up my musical skills. any
recmendations on how i can improve asap? or do u think that i shouldnt go to
music college? [:((]

The main thing that's going to get
you into music school is your playing ability, regardless of how many years
you've been playing. You will have to audition in front of the flute professor,
and possibly other professors. If you don't already have a flute teacher, get
one. He/she can guide you and be a better judge of your musical ability. You
don't have to be an expert on music theory.. that is usually one of the first
classes you take in music school.
