In my opinion, Armstrong 303B, is the best flute. On
the piccolo thing, I think that an Armstrong 204 is a great choice.[]

I think the best brand is Pearl close seconds would be
gemeinhardts. This is because pearl makes amazingly good custom flute(as well as
gemeinhardt) that are just amazing

We have had a number of discussions here in regards to
flute brands. I don't think there is a "best" brand generally speaking. It is
such an individual decision. I know what flute brands I would consider testing
and I know which ones I wouldn't bother testing. For instance I would never
purchase the brands already mentioned above for various reasons. If money were
no object I would personally be testing Muramatsu, Miyazawa, Powell, Altus,
Brannen and Saynko and probably throw Yamaha in there too. Kim

i have to agree with kim... this subject and kind of
post has been posted before, and people have so many different opinions and
ideas because of available resources. i think what people might be looking for
are what kind of flutes are professional flute players playing on. and if
that's the question then it really comes down to preference because the top
flute companies have been pretty consistent and it more comes down to
personalities and what one person likes on a flute. and, even flutes have their
own personalities even within a certain company. i have played the same
instrument by the same company and like one much more than another, and that is
not unusual. so, for the top brands.... it's interesting to look at the family
tree of flute companies. i found something online a few weeks ago that showed
the branches of what companies came off of other companies. anyhow. haynes,
powell, brannen, burkart, nagahara, miyazawa, and muramatsu and sometimes even
yamaha. if you have the money to spend on an instrument that is where i think
you will find some of the highest quality of flutes being made.

That's a touchy question. Everyone seems to think
that whatever THEY have is the best (I'm not saying that's always the case,
but on this message board this seems to be the trend.) The "best" brand is
completely subjective. I think that tree Courtney was talking about would be
really interesting to look at-- if anyone comes across it would you mind posting
the link? Many thanks[:)]
Haha, this one is my favorite:

Hello,
When we search the best flute brands on the market that time we can see the well-known flute brands, like, Yamaha, Jupiter, Gemeinhardt, Pearl etc, they are around the market, because they are providing the best quality flutes for students,So many beginners player don't know how to choose the right flute, for that they have to consider many things before buying the best flute or best flute brands, When i was a beginner i took the Yamaha flute brand...

Thanks

There is no "best" flute brand. It all depends upon the level of the player, the intended use, and the individual preferences of the player. The list you mentioned and the flutes listed on that website barely scratch the surface of very good, reputable flute brands. Generalizations, especially incomplete ones, are not very helpful for anyone...
