Playing with open eyes doesn't feel right for me. Does anyone else do this too? I never feel like closing my eyes when I play other instruments. Is this some kind of bad habit I should stop doing now?

as long as you know your part and you are aware of whats going on around you and you can follow the conductor. i dont even see why someone would care if your eyes are closed.. i close my eyes alot when im doing solos.. deep concentration :)

I generally agree with the previous reply, but there are two exceptions that I can think of:

sight reading new music, and of course when playing in a marching band!

I do as well... but then I tend to play from memory rather than sight reading where possible. Yes, it's probably a bad habit, and no, I don't care :P

As long as you don't end up doing an unplanned solo as everyone else stopped on a cue you missed, of course...
