Flute or Piccolo?

I've recently started learning the flute as a hobby, but I'm also interested in learning the Piccolo. Should I :

1. Keep learning the flute and then switch to piccolo?
2. Learn both at the same time?
3. Skip the flute and go straight to the piccolo?
4. Learn the piccolo and later the flute?
5. Skip both and get a new hobby?

Any help will be appreciated

Get a good handle on flute, then add piccolo. I personally believe it is important to establish good fundamentals on flute then switch over. A lot of things that you learn on flute transfer over to piccolo.

However, even though many things DO transfer, many things do not. Piccolo is a completely different beast to tame and requires a lot of intensive work to play well.

I agree with Fluteguy

Eventually you will find that playing both Flute and Pic are compliments of each other. Learning flute will help you start of picollo better, and picollo will help you have better control over you altissmo register on flute. I have known people the start on picollo then switch to flute. However, from what I have been told, starting on picollo first then moving to flute is a harder transition.
