Hi, I would guess that maybe your hand position is
already pretty good if you picked it up that fast without problems. I know my
daughter had all of her plugs out in less than a week but there is a girl in her
school band that just removed the 3rd one this past week after having the flute
for 6 months. Kim

wow that's awesome that you got it so quickly. I
knwo for me it took my awhile to get the inline g plug out. I still have to put
the last 2 plugs in for my right hand to get low c's out though sicne I can't
reach the keys and covre the holes..but whoa that's great that your hand
position is good enough to just switch between flutes!

When I got my inline open-holed I kept the plugs
in cuz my teacher thought I should. I got a new teacher a couple weeks later and
she took them out right away. She said that if your gonna have a open-holed the
you gotta learn how to play open-holed! Within a couple days I could play good
w/out the plugs! So it is pretty easy to learn if you practice w/out them.

You're not weird, I was able to play my new open
holed off set flute without the plugs the first time too.

I wanted to know your opinion should I just go for
it and take all the plugs out (I play well but my D's and E's (middle) are
still airy)

Take em out most people adjust to not having plugs
in one or two practices. Only one long reach may throw you for awhile dependging
on your age and hand size.

I would just take the plugs out. Just hang in
there and you will have it before you know it. I know 2 people that tried the
"one at a time method"...one still has a plug in and it has been over a year and
the other has had her flute for 9 months and still has 2 plugs to go. My
daughter just took hers out the day she got the flute and she had it down in
just a few days. Kim

You aren't weird. I got my open holed flute this
summer and it didn't even have plugs but I picked it up just fine. I could play
it withing a few days.
