embouchure hole is the part of the flute you blow into. embouchure
is the "shape" or position lips, tongue, and teeth make to produce the proper
air stream This isn't my area of expertise, however, since no one else
answered, I gave it my best shot

Thank you very much Penny! Now I think I need to learn how exactly
to shape my mouth or whatever to get it to sound right.[;)]

I would recommend a great deal of reading, listening and
experimenting. Your library probably has some good books for starters. Second
there are some very informative websites such as Jenn Cluff's site and the king
of flute websites just might be Larry Krantz. His site has so much information
it will keep you busy and improving for awhile. Good luck and most of all
enjoy

As someone who's also new at learning the flute...my instructor
has told me to practice in front of the mirror to see the difference of your
mouth (sorry I can't remember the technical term) from low notes to high
notes.

Hey guys, what about some of the beginner lessons on THIS site
(since they are graciously sponsoring this board!). They have some videos that
you can watch. If you don't have a teacher, do you have any friends that play?
They should be able to help get you started.

I've already gotten everything I can from THIS site. I'm not
gonna pay for all the lessons for two reasons, 1) i can't afford that kind of
stuff right now and 2) my piano teacher most likely know how to teach flute too
and I can take lessons from her cheaper than I can from here. Sorry if this
sounds rude. It's not my intention but like I said, I've already done
everything this site offers without paying.[:)]
