Is there a single book for flute that teaches rhythm, notes, phrasing, and general musicianship, like the Rose 32 etudes for clarinet or the Ferling 48 etudes for oboe do ?
I have not been able to find one. Thanks for the assistance.

The Standard of Excellence books were nice, I thought. I learned with all three of them.

I think that the Coelho's Flute Workout is a great book that takes you through etude-like exercises, exercises for articulation, long tones, scales and other things that will help with standard orchestral excerpts.

if this is to teach yourself then you should get a teacher, the DVD may not be reliable. if you are the teacher… you don't need a DVD to show your students how to play, (it may be unreliable anyway), you should show them how to play yourself.
as for the books, i don't think there is a single book, or ever going to be, that can cover everything. unfortunately you have to buy several. you need a teacher to help with this, or (if you are the teacher) you should already have enough knowledge to guide your students somewhat in terms of what books to buy. =]
