Thumb B Flat - Mechanical problem?

Hello,

I bought a flute a few days ago. That was the first time I ever picked up a flute. I'm trying out a teaching book, and I've just reached the section concerning the B flat. That was the time when I was not too sure about the proper functioning of my flute.
The One-and-one B flat and the B flat lever work mechanically perfectly fine. But when I shift my LH thumb from the Thumb-Key to the Thumb B flat Key and then back to the Thumb key, the key does not return into its original position and the hole between LH1 and LH 2 remains closed until I lift the thumb off the thumb key.

Is it supposed to be that way? Because if it is not, I have to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

From your description, it would seem there is a problem with your flute. The thumb Bb lever, 1&1 Bb, and aux Bb trill should all work identically. With either option, when any of those are pressed, the Bb key should close. When any of those options are released, the Bb key/pad should open.
