Ditto flutego12. There are two books now, A New Flute Tune a Day I & II. They are filled with short pieces of advancing difficulty. Both come with CDs. Love them both.
I also like the Hal Leonard Play Along series, also with accompanying CDs.

Try the learn-at-home video modules on http://LearnFluteOnline.com The lessons are step-by-step especially for beginners.
Re: Can someone tell me: Is there an easy, self taught
im self learning too
im using both flute for dummies nad a new tune a day for flute books 1+2
id say dummies is a little better, goes through things in more details
but i like the bigger notes + diagrams on the tune a day for flutes
the CD's are great as well
it makes me feel crap when i listen to em, because i cant replicate the sounds

The tune a day's aren't bad. I've used them a little, but they don't really substitute for a good teacher imo. Perhaps used in conjunction with a really good technical guide they would work well...

One good book

I self taught myself many years ago, but to be honest, I have to start from the basics when I had my first studio teacher. Sometimes you think you are doing it correctly, but actually you are not.

I`ve recently tapped into The Flute Channel on youtube. Its quite good, I'd give it a chance. It looks like she also answers questions, and there are other "series" on the channel, like history and repair.
Good Luck
