Facillitating high C

Post by kkSlider »

Hello.
It may seem strange but this common note always gives me problems. Whenever I play it, I always go flat. It sounds like I'm dropping an octave to a low C. In general, whenever I play, I am flat. I just don't know why. Even pushing in the headjoint doesn't always fix the problem. When I play, there is a lot of water vapor on the opposite end of the mouthpiece and I find myself losing breath quite quickly.

Any and all tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It sounds like you need to focus yor air stream more. Think of blowing through a straw, and how that feels. By blowing in the same manner, you should get a clearer, more focused sound and better overall intonation, not to mention what it can do for breath control. Without actually seeing you play, this is my best guess.
