Low octave question

Is it okay to have this sort of dark, rich, buzzing when you play the low octave? I heard it is..

Yes, it can be. Like the rest of the flute range, you want to have a variety of tonal colours available to you, but that is certainly what some people consider the ideal low register.

I think this is what Trevor Wye calls the "purple" sound...

purple is fun and makes you feel that you have really got the low register. Well done! don't force it though and work for a good variety of sound. then when you can do Aquarium tone, practice moving from one to the other.... the work is endless
