I know this site is for flutes but I was wondering what advice I
could get on purchasing a piccolo. I just started playing flute 3 weeks ago
(played trumpet 10 years). I''m 53 and can''t wait to try piccolo. I''ll
be playing as a hobby for the next few years at home. My ultimate goal is to
play the solo in Stars and Stripes Forever. My flute is a Gemeinhardt 2SP.
I''ve always loved the look of silver piccolos but wonder what to get - silver
plated, silver, plastic or plastic w/silver plated headjoint? Thanks, Gerry G

Dear Gerry, Everything depends on how much money you are willing
to put in. Piccolos (and flutes) can get quite expensive. If you are taking it
as a hobby a plastic piccolo will serve you well for several years and then, if
you are really serious about it, you can purchase a better one. So, considering
the budget and the need, I would go with plastic for now. Regards,

Thank you, Damjan. I'll look into the plastic piccolos. By the
way, I think this site is excellent with its lessons and message board. Once I
get a camera for my PC I'll be loking forward to signing up for on-line
classes. Thanks again, Gerry G

Gerry, here is a link where you will be able to find some
piccolos and see the prices:
http://www.wwbw.com/category/?d=9&dd=954727678&c=407 (this link goes directly to
the piccolos, the main website is www.wwbw.com) Lazer LZP3 Piccolo ($325.00) is
a good choice. Also, Gemeinhardt 4P is good but I am not sure about the price.
You can probably just call them up and ask about it.
