I am borrowing a Jupiter flute and an self-teaching mainly due to time constraints though considering trying to find a local teacher if only for occasional lessons!
My question is really basic, so sorry!:
Am I right in thinking that obtaining a good embouchure is dependent on a) technique (correct position of lips/flute), and b) on the sort of consistent practice that brass players need to 'get their lip in'?
What I sort of mean with b) is that if I'm trying to get a nice sound by trying over and over again, will my sound improve as my lips tighten and get stronger or can some people with the right anatomy, luck and a good teacher 'get it right first time' they pick up a flute and continue to make a nice sound? Or can that realistically only be done by constant and consistent practice?
FWIW I'm OK in the lower register but I've just hit problems with the upper register (like E, F) as my embouchure just isn't up to it! SO is it my technique that's rubbish or that I haven't done enough practice, yet? I've only been at it since the end of March!
Thanks

You've done well for the first month!
I really should leave this to the experts on the forum but, will share what I've learnt re embouchures.

Thanks for your input. Have you found any ebay things to help?
I've been looking at Jenny Cluff and a chap called Cobus du Toit. Both were useful.
