Ok.. this is another "what to buy" topic, but I really need some advise here. I've read a lot here in this forum and other sites on the web.
I know the best way to find what flute is best suited is to actually try them out, but it happens that I'm from Argentina, and actually live far away from the city. So.. finding a store that will let me test use some flutes is quite difficult for me at this time. I'm kind of basing my purchase from reviews and comments from other people. Not the best way at all, but it will have to do.
I've been playing for quite a short time, 2 years to be precise, and I'm more into improvisation playing.
I feel kind of drawn into Pearl flutes, from what I've read, considering buying either a 525-RBE1RB or a 665-RBE1RB if the difference in quality is worth paying for. Is it?
Other than that, which brand-model has good quality/price balance?
Tried a Yamaha intermediate flute once, but didn't quite felt right with it.
Thanks for your help!

Re: New flute, budget limit $1100, need advice!
Pearl makes some very nice flutes. Although I don't regularly play on a Pearl flute, I have a backup Pearl 501. It is a low end student model, but it plays very well and sounds great too. I have tried several other Pearl flutes and they all are really good.
You asked if the difference in quality between the 525 and 665 would be worth it. There really should be no difference in quality between these two models. They both have very similar (if not identical) bodies and features. The main difference between these two is the headjoint. The 665 has a sterling silver headjoint while on the 525, only the lip plate is sterling. I suspect that you will find very little difference in the playing or feel of these two flutes.

Thanks for the reply. I guess the 525 is a good choice. I'll probably get that one.
Is there any distinction between the sound of Pearl flutes and other brands? I dunno, maybe something that is noticeable for?
Any other advice is welcomed.
