Need Pads replaced?

Post by FlutyTooty1of9 »

I am 17 and will be auditioning for colleges in music education/therapy starting on February 9, 2013. I need my pads replaced on both my flute and piccolo. I have a Gemeinhardt 3SHB flute and Gemeinhardt 4SP piccolo. I was hoping someone could tell me how long it would take for them to be replace and how much it would cost? :?: Thank you so much.

The time for a repad varies from shop to shop and depends upon the time of year. Summers are usually the busiest. Expect it to take a week or two dpending upon the shop's waiting list ahead of you. Cost for a flute repad also varies by shop and whether the flute is open or closed hole and whether it's a student level, intermediate, or professional. The price range is typically about $200 to $500. Better shops and flute specialty repair shops tend to be a bit more, but in the long run, they usually do a better job because they specialize in flutes.
