I have just become the section leader in the flute
section of my band. So that means that I''m in charge of teaching everyone how
to do everything and sound good. For example, our march is Liberty Bell and
there''s a couple of places in the song where there are octave slurs. I''ve
been playing for eight years and i can barely do them up to tempo. Does anyone
have any advice on hoe to make it earsier, especially for those who have only
been playing 1-2 years?

octave slurs.....
I had trouble with octave slurs when I started
learning them, the way I learnt them was to play low high low then go up a note
and do the same thing throughout the chromatic scale, then I'd play high low
high in the chromatic scale, this also helped my tone. Some people change their
embochure, some change their airstream, not just quicker, slower, stronger or
weaker, but the direction of it too. I think its a mixture of these things, but
people do things differently, but try that exercise and see what happens. [8)]
