Are you suggesting that they practice more, play piccolo, or go to band camp in an effort to improve tone, then? In any case, I don't think it will help too much, since this thread is about 1 1/2 years old.flute_girl04 wrote:k sorry i'm totally changing the subject and i hope you'll forgive me but i have a really good way at improving your tone.this worked for me and i'm 1st chair in my entire school.if your school has a piccolo that you can practice with.i went to band camp and in one week my tone was 10x as good as before.just practicing non stop for a long time.

Improvement!
hey,
I know that chair tests can be nerve wrecking, but first just know its not something to get nervous about. I'm not if you do get nervous, but IF you do, try not to stress. Okay, another thing to think about. REPITION. repeat things until you have them 100%. you can make sure that you have it by playing something 20 or so times and play them perfectly each time. if you mess up ONCE then start again from one. Also, it might help to practice more if you have time. I know that it might be hard to find time with everything else, but if you really want to commit, then just practice maybe 1 1/2 hours or so. Just make time! Good luck with your improvements!

My band teacher being the jerk he is won't tell me how to improve. So every time we have chair tests, I feel like I'm going to cry. I know the 1st and 2nd chair people make this tone that I have no clue how to produce and i'm almost thinking about quitting if i don't get better. Please help me. Thanks.
