embouchure technique help

Post by cc »

my private teacher showed me a trick in the
formation of her embouchure-for high notes her lips come out and for low notes
they come back in.( i have no problems with an embouchure that cannot seem to
come out enough in usual playing) but im having a hard time acheiving the span
of high-out & low-back in.Does anynoe out there know any tips or things i might
try to fix this?(i have a flute lesson tomorrow)Thankyou.[:halo:]

embouchure technique help

My flute teacher doesn't move her lips as
such, but she did suggest that you project your jaw when playing the upper
register notes. I tried that and it does seem to work, but it's very hard
especially when you're playing Telemann or Karg-Elert, or something which jumps
all over the flute range! I've been practising away from the flute (and yes, I
do feel a fool when I sit in the library wiggling my jaw around!) but it does
seem to work. Practise long notes as well, especially in octaves, pushing your
lips out on the higher register notes and tucking them back for the lower
register. The slower you practise, the more time you have to think and get your
lips in the right place. That's all I can suggest for the moment, but I hope it
helps! [:)]

my way, i can see a brighter day, the music in my life will set my spirit
