What Flute should i get?

Post by lindsa »

I am looking into getting an intermediate flute but i always see mixed answers on posts. I want to see what would be good for me. I currently own a used Yamaha 25Sii and i know Yamaha is an amazing brand but i do prefer not spending a lot so that's why i have stopped considering a Yamaha. I also would like to mention i prefer getting a new flute but if there is a good used model that doesn't break the bank i will consider it. I have been looking into Di Zhao and Pearl flutes (i love the sound of pearls), if you know of any brands and models i should look into please say]

(I also have very mixed emotions on Geminhardts and i definitely don't want an Armstrong)

A few questions for you:
  • Why do you want to upgrade?
  • What features are you looking for in a flute?
  • What is your budget?
Until you know what you want and how much you can spend, it will be difficult to guide you.

1. I want to upgrade because i know staying with a student model is not the best for me. I think upgrading will show my true talents, and as I've heard from videos and videos on end that student models tend to be "clunky", I'm personally trying to get feedback to purchase the flute for the fututre, like in 7-10 months. I want to find a bunch of options for getting the flute

2. I love silver plated flutes because of the clean and shiny aspects to it. I want to be able to play the flute and have a loud aspect so you can hear it among a crowd.

3. i just can't afford anything above 2,000 dollars

OK, great. No one can tell you what is the best flute for you, but we can help guide you. I'd suggest starting by reading thru the Fluteland FAQ:
http://www.fluteland.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5859

The FAQ will give you some things to think about in terms of features and options for flutes. After that, you'll probably have some specific questions that we may be able to answer for you.
