I agree with Caperflutist.

I always find that the C#'s are horrible flat.

i find my high C always in tune almost perfectly. most of my notes above A are in tune, but not good tone.

they hardest note for me to make sound okay would be F#(3rd octave).

My biggest problem is A flat 3. It's awkward, and it often sounds awful.

I have problems with E3, F#3, Ab3 and C#2,3 only because of tone. I can play them with a nice tone, but not as nice as my other notes. It registers as airy sometimes or slightly out of tune, which I find annoying when I play.

I haven't started on the fourth octave other than C4. I'm not sure where to get fingering charts for the fourth octave.

UGH! I hate the really high F# and the B natural above it! And sometimes the really high Ab annoys me too. I find that if I remove the pinky finger oft eh right hand off the Eb key, the B natural comes out without much effort.

I have never had a problem with range. I can play from B1 all the way to F#4, and there arent any more notes to learn.....

They all seemed rather easy to learn with the proper fingering chart.

Actually, from a theoretical standpoint, there are more to learn. The harmonic series that the upper ranges of the flute are based on does not operate normally from G4-Bb4, but if you were to muster the air and embouchure support, a B5 would theoretically be a possibility.

I know in theory it could just keep going, however....... have you ever played those notes? or heard anyone play above the F# without altering the instrument? if you have.... I will go back to the drawing board, but until then, I will say I can play the complete range.

now....... to get it all in tune......

Dificult notes

Post by Zevang »

It's funny, but in my opinion, C# is not really the hardest note to learn. It is indeed the worse to play, because of a "problem" on the acoustics of the flute.

The note I've found to be the hardest to play was undoubtly the 3rd octave E, which is subject to various solutions created by the manufacturers of flutes to minimize its scarying effects.
cheers,

I'd have to say 4th octave Eb is worst for me. There are tons of fingerings for it, and only one out of probably 10 or 12 that I tried that let me play it. I could play D and E without trouble, but Eb just didn't like my flute.
