I''m currently trying to get my chromatic scale to work
for me, but it''s harder than the other scales I''ve learned. I can''t
quite keep my consistency, and the tone isn''t very good in the upper octave.
Any tips? Thanks!

Try to take it slow at first, so that you can really
focus on the clarity of each tone. Also, when you practice slow, you will be
rhythmically consistent and your speed will increase naturally with time.
Regarding your tone, when in the third register, relax your lips as much as
possible. As you listen to yourself playing, try to make the notes sound pure
and rich, relax your lips and listen to the "lower overtone" (a low, humming
sound) as it will show when you are playing well. Chromatic scale fingerings are
difficult in the third register, but just keep practicing at a comfortable tempo
and you should have no problems.

Chromatic Scale
hey! I'm working on my chromatic scale a lot right now,
too! When you first start playing it, take it very very slow. Once you can get
it right when u play it slow, play it a little faster until you get it right,
then faster and faster. If there is a certain note that you keep messing up on
then play the note before it, the note, then the note after it over and over and
over until you get it right. For example, say you are messing up on D flat, you
would play D,D flat,C,D flat,D back and forth until it's right. I hope this
helped! I know it definately helped me! [] (`*·.¸¸.·*´) FluteFrog88

you can also play it in different patterns. mixing up
the rhythms can help your fingers 'remember' the fingerings.

Chromatic Scale
ive been doing chromatic scales for a while now (have
to for my exams) and i find that going up is often weaker (and personally i
found slower for some reason) than going down. once u get the hang of it start
the chromatic scale on different notes and do 2 octaves (or 3 if its C, or B if
u have a B key) and u'll find if u can start from anywhere u'll handle it
well. like everything else, these just need practice, start slow and u'll get
there in no time good luck!
