Going from a low e flat to a low c quickly

Post by queen »

Hello, I’m playing a flat major by soussmann for an audition soon, and there’s a part where you have to play a low e flat to a low c in sixteenth notes fairly quickly- any tips for this?? It’s very difficult to go from one to the other quickly.

Rub your RH pinky finger where your nose and cheek join. That area tends to be more oily and getting the skin oil on your pinky finger makes it easier to slide between the Eb and C keys.

Depending upon the other notes in that section, you may be able to tie the C key closed and then just open the Eb when needed. (Obviously, this won't work if you need to play a low D or C#).
