Guo Grenaditte Headjoint
I just bought a Guo Grenaditte headjoint to use with my Amadeus flute. It was a little too big when it came. I carefully sanded it down a bit to get it to fit (maybe a mistake). Anyhow, the "texture" of the sound is great! My problem is every note is very flat (by as much as 1/2 step). I've pushed it in fully (of course). The only way I can get anything close to in tune is to turn it way, way, way out. Does anyone have experience with this problem? Any help would be appreciated!
Re: Guo Grenaditte Headjoint
Did you check the cork position on this new headjoint? Maybe it needs adjustments.
Also, as this is a headjoint designed to work with Guo flutes, it might be possible that the dimentions of this headjoint don't match those of your flute. It's really a problem, because I can't see how you could make corrections to adjust this in a Guo HJ.
Maybe it'd be good to contact the maker.

Re: Guo Grenaditte Headjoint
There are a couple of possibilities:
The Guo headjoint may simply be longer than your original Amadeus. On both headjoints, measure the distance from the center of the embouchure hole to the end of the tenon. If the Guo is longer, you might be able to get a flute technician to trim the tenon end a bit shorter.
The Guo headjoint may have a different internal bore diameter or different taper than your Amadeus. If that's the case, it simply may not be compatible.
