Has anyone ever heard of the song The Great Steamboat Race that is a song for high school band?

I've heard it, but never played it. It's very similar to another piece titled The Great Locomotive Chase, if I'm not mistaken.

No, I havent ever played that piece, but I have played [ my high school band read through it a few times a couple of years ago] The Great Locomotive Chase. A nice little piece. The effect of the 'bend' technique was quite cool in that piece.

yeah it has a lot of fun bending pieces played by 3 flutes. And i also have had the piccolo solo in it

Wow. You can play the piccolo.

I know I'm making this sound like that's an impossible thing. But I;v always wanted to play the piccolo once but my mom doesn't like it and my band teacher wants me to stick to flute.

Eventually I'm sure you'll be allowed to branch out into piccolo. IMHO, the younger you get started, the better, though, so keep working on your mom and teacher!

when i was in 7th grade i started playing the piccolo. then i played the stars and stripes forever piccolo solo and it was really really high but i enjoyed it. the piccolo is really fun once you learn how to play it
