Paula Robison Study Scores - Hindemith

Post by sags_3 »

Just wondering if anyone has the book ' The music of Hindemith' which is edited by Paula Robison. It include performance notes on the Hindemith Sonate. If so any feedback on what they think of it would be great.

Thanks

I'm probably going to purchase this. I LOVE Paula Robison, and I'm teaching the Hindemith Sonata like crazy this upcoming year (it's the level 6 Sonata Contest piece for our local music teacher's association). I really trust her insights and think this would be a great addition to my studio. Thanks for reminding me of it, and I'll let you know what I think! :D

The notes are great! Lots of performance suggestions. Unfortunately, no piano score (flute part only).

I've observed that it's sometimes cheaper to pay shipping from overseas than to buy an item which has already been imported into the States, and whose price reflects the import tax!

I got the book, Its pretty useful with lots of suggestions on how to play the soanta. The history and general notes on the piece are probably going to be of most use to me for programme notes.
I had a look at the Martin Ballade book she has also got, and it looks very useful with in depth detail on how to play the piece rather than just suggestions on character and breathing etc.
